Is a Whiter Smile Worth the Cost? Start With Your Natural Tooth Shade

Before comparing teeth whitening prices, decide what you want the treatment to change. A naturally warm shade, a surface stain, and a darker tooth are different concerns. The American Dental Association's MouthHealthy guidance emphasizes that healthy smiles come in many shades; bright white is not a measure of dental health.

A color description cannot diagnose a problem or establish whether whitening is suitable. Have new or unexplained changes, pain, or existing sensitivity assessed by a dentist before using a cosmetic treatment. Whitening can cause sensitivity and gum irritation, and existing crowns or tooth-colored fillings will not whiten like natural teeth.

How would you describe your tooth color?

Choose the closest description to jump to relevant questions. Your answer is a personal observation, not a diagnosis or a recommendation to whiten.
