Holiday Decorations Go Up Early. Does the Budget Have to Grow Too?

One household is ready for holiday lights before Thanksgiving; another waits until the calendar is well into December. The date can start a lively discussion, but it does not decide how much you need to buy. A longer season can use the same modest collection if the plan is clear.

Before decorating, inspect light strings and discard damaged sets, including those with frayed or pinched wires. Follow the manufacturer's limits for connecting strands, keep exits clear and turn decorative lights off when leaving home or going to bed. Choose lights and accessories rated for where they will be used.

If you use a natural Christmas tree, water it daily, keep it at least three feet from heat sources and remove it when dry. Battery-operated flameless candles avoid an open flame; any real candles need stable holders and at least 12 inches from things that burn. These checks matter at every starting date.

When do decorations usually go up at your home?

Choose the closest timing for your household. Your answer guides planning ideas; celebrating differently or using no decorations is equally welcome.
