A phone's age is a useful starting point for an upgrade decision, but it does not tell you whether replacement is worthwhile. Compare the problem you want to solve, the device's remaining software support, a repair quote, and the complete cost of changing phones. Trade-in estimates and promotional bill credits come with conditions.
Deal with physical safety concerns before comparing prices. If you suspect damage to the phone or battery, stop using it and seek the manufacturer's service guidance; do not attempt to open a damaged battery. Ordinary battery wear is a different issue. Apple advises trained service for iPhone battery repairs and warns against continued use when damage is suspected.
Choose the device's approximate age since it first entered use, if known. The ranges guide reading; model support and condition matter more than age alone.
