A hair mask, a bond-repair bottle, and a salon smoothing appointment can all promise better-looking hair while offering very different experiences. Before comparing prices, describe what is bothering you: roughness, snapped strands, flyaways, or a lack of shine. A clearer goal makes an expensive extra easier to evaluate.
These observations do not diagnose a hair or scalp condition. Seek a dermatologist's assessment for new thinning, bald patches, persistent scalp pain, or irritation. Do not try to fix a painful scalp with more chemical treatments, and discuss suspected medication effects with the prescriber before changing treatment.
Chemical smoothing also deserves a separate safety discussion. The FDA warns that some products release formaldehyde when heated and advises against applying these treatments yourself at home. Ask a licensed professional about the exact product, ingredients, ventilation, and alternatives before booking.
Choose the concern you most want to discuss to review relevant care and cost questions. Your answer does not diagnose hair damage or scalp disease.
